NauruCare
NauruCare is the next step in Nauru’s commitment to universal healthcare — a modernised, coordinated system that continues to provide comprehensive, free healthcare for all Nauruan citizens, just as before.
Our mission remains the same: to ensure every person in Nauru can get the care they need — safely, fairly, and without cost at the point of use.
Key Principles
Free Healthcare for All – Medical care continues to be publicly funded and available to every Nauruan citizen at no cost.
Quality and Safety – Services are delivered by qualified professionals meeting national and international standards of care.
Prevention First – Health programs focus on prevention, education, and early detection to support lifelong wellness.
Accessible to Everyone – Care is available on the Island and abroad through the Overseas Medical Referral (OMR) Programme when clinically required.
Integrated and Coordinated – A connected system ensures smooth transitions between primary, hospital, and specialist care.
Who is covered?

Nauruan Citizens
Fully covered under NauruCare, as before. All essential and emergency services remain free of charge.*

Foreign Nationals
working for the Government of Nauru
Those employed by or under contract with the Government of Nauru are covered under NauruCare.
* Elective Procedures and Treatments – Now offered at subsidised rates for citizens. This helps ensure resources are available for essential and emergency care while keeping elective options affordable.
