Medical cover for visitors to Nauru
The Nauru Visitor Health Plan provides medical insurance for visitors to the Republic of Nauru, including tourists, contractors, consultants, expatriate employees, and visiting dependants, during their lawful stay.
The plan is designed to help manage the cost of unexpected medical treatment in Nauru, including hospitalisation, day-care procedures, and outpatient medical services.

Eligible Members
You may apply for cover if you meet the following requirements:Hospital accommodation:
• Policyholder and legal spouse
• Dependent children:
• From 14 days to 19 years of age
• Over 19 and under 22 years if enrolled full-time in college or university and financially dependent
• Maximum entry age: 65 years
Medical requirement: A full medical examination is required for applicants aged 35 years and above
Visa / Entry Requirement
All insured persons must hold a valid visa or entry permit allowing lawful residence in Nauru for the full duration of the policy period.
Cover Period Options
The Nauru Visitor Health Plan is available for:
• Short-Term Visitors: 1 day up to 90 days
• Long-Term Visitors: More than 90 days (subject to underwriting approval)
The approved period of insurance will be shown on your policy certificate.

In-Hospital Treatment (Inpatient)
Covers medically necessary inpatient treatment at government or approved private hospitals in Nauru, including:
• Hospital accommodation
• Nursing care
• Theatre and operating costs
• Specialist fees during hospitalisation
• Prescribed medications administered during admission

Day-Care Treatment
Covers medically necessary procedures requiring hospital admission without an overnight stay, including:
• Minor surgical procedures
• Diagnostic procedures requiring hospital admission
• Same-day recovery services
Benefit limits apply as stated in the policy certificate.
Outpatient & Emergency Medical Treatment
Covers non-chronic, medically necessary outpatient treatment provided by a registered medical practitioner in Nauru, including:
• GP consultations
• Emergency treatment
• Diagnostic consultations
• Prescribed medications for acute conditions
Benefit limits apply as stated in the policy certificate.
Gold Reimbursement –
Consultations & Medication
Reimburses 85% of eligible expenses for:
• Consultations with any registered doctor in Nauru
• Prescribed medications for non-chronic conditions only
Applicable to single members and families. Chronic conditions and long-term medications are excluded. Annual limits apply as set out in the policy certificate.
Non-chronic conditions are conditions that are not long-term, ongoing, or requiring continuous medical management or medication.

Optional Benefits (If Selected)
Optical
Reimbursement of 85% of eligible costs for:
• Eye examinations
• Prescription glasses or contact lenses
Annual limits apply.
Dental
Reimbursement of 85% of eligible costs for general dental treatment, including:
• Consultations
• Cleaning
• Fillings
• Extractions
Annual limits apply.
Funeral Benefit
In the event of death while insured under the plan, a lump-sum benefit may be payable towards funeral expenses.
Benefit limits apply as stated in the policy certificate.
Where You Are Covered
Cover applies only within Nauru.
Medical treatment received outside Nauru is not covered under this plan.

Hospital & Day-Care Exclusions
• Pre-existing or related medical conditions
• Congenital conditions
• Palliative care
• Conditions related to HIV
• Conditions related to sexually transmitted diseases
• Treatment received outside Nauru
Outpatient Exclusions
• Chronic or long-term conditions (including asthma, diabetes, and hypertension)
• Long-term prescription medication
• Vitamins and dietary supplements
• Over-the-counter medications
• Diagnostic imaging (including X-rays)
• Pathology services (including blood tests)
Important Policy Conditions
Medical Declarations
All applicants must disclose known medical conditions at the time of application. Failure to disclose may result in claim denial or policy cancellation.
Waiting Period
There is no waiting period. Cover begins on the effective date shown on the policy certificate, subject to full premium payment.
Cancellation & Refunds
The insurer may cancel the policy in cases of fraud, non-disclosure, or breach of policy terms.
Premiums are non-refundable once cover has commenced, except where the insured does not enter Nauru.

How to Submit a Claim
Claims should be lodged within 14 days of treatment and must include:
• Itemised medical receipts
• Medical report or diagnosis
• Prescription details (if applicable)
Late or incomplete claims may be declined.

Premiums & Payment
Premiums
• Premiums are based on age and length of stay
• Optional benefits are charged separately
• All premiums and benefits are in Australian Dollars (AUD)
Payment
Premiums must be paid in full prior to commencement of cover. Cover is not active until payment is received.

• Bank transfer
• Credit or debit card
• Employer or sponsor payment (where applicable)
