Community Health
At Nauru Medical Centre, we believe that good health begins in the community. Our Community Health programs are dedicated to promoting wellness, preventing disease, and ensuring that individuals and families across Nauru have access to the care, education, and support they need to live healthier lives
Our Services include:
Immunisation Services
Through the Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI), we provide a comprehensive range of vaccines to protect infants, children, adolescents, and adults against preventable diseases. Immunisations are delivered according to the national schedule—from early infancy through adolescence—and include essential vaccines such as Hepatitis B and the seasonal influenza vaccine. Our team also conducts community outreach and home visits to ensure full immunisation coverage and follow-up for missed vaccinations.
Maternal, Infant & Child Health
We provide holistic care for mothers and young children through postnatal wellness checks, developmental milestone monitoring, breastfeeding and nutrition support, and early childhood health assessments. Home visits and follow-up services ensure continuity of care for both mother and child.
Women’s Reproductive Health
Our services promote women’s wellbeing through family planning counselling and method provision, postnatal care, and screening programs for cervical and breast cancer. Outreach teams conduct regular community visits offering HPV self-swab testing, education on self-breast examination, and referrals for further investigations when needed.
Men’s Health
Our men’s health program provides screening and counselling for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), prostate health checks for men aged 45 and above, and ongoing wellness monitoring. We are committed to supporting men in maintaining their reproductive and general health.
Health Promotion & Preventive Care
We deliver health education, awareness campaigns, and community-based screening programs focused on nutrition, physical activity, and early detection of chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease. These initiatives empower individuals to take proactive steps toward better health.
At Nauru Medical Centre, community health is about more than treating illness—it’s about empowering people with knowledge, prevention, and ongoing support. Together, we’re building a healthier, stronger future for Nauru.
