Professional Overview

Valasi Teeve is a general practitioner with more than six years of experience working in hospital and community settings, including remote island clinics in Tuvalu. She completed her medical degree at the Faculty of Medicine in Celia Sanchez Manduray, Granma, Cuba, and returned to serve her community by providing medical care in areas with limited access to qualified healthcare professionals. Her work includes patient consultations, diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions, preventive health counselling, and primary care services for individuals and families across all age groups.
She has served in multiple clinical roles, including as a general practitioner at Princess Margaret Hospital, Niutao Medical Clinic, Vaitupu Medical Clinic, and Motufoua Secondary School Clinic. Her responsibilities have included minor surgery, wound and fracture care, prescribing and administering medication, maintaining medical records, conducting women’s and child health clinics, screening for chronic diseases, performing midwifery services including delivery, and referring patients to specialised services when required. She has also contributed to community health through health promotion programmes, free health checks, workshops, and volunteer work with Whanau Community Trust.
