Dietitian

Position Title: Dietitian
Department: Dietetics / Clinical Services
Reports To: Clinical Services Manager / Medical Director

Position Purpose

To provide evidence-based nutritional assessment, counselling and dietary management to inpatients and outpatients, supporting prevention, treatment and management of nutrition-related conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct nutritional assessments of patients.
• Develop individualised nutrition care plans.
• Provide dietary advice based on clinical condition, nutritional requirements and treatment plans.
• Provide nutrition support for patients with diabetes, renal disease, cardiovascular conditions, malnutrition and other relevant conditions.
• Support nutritional management of patients requiring specialised diets.
• Assess patients for malnutrition and nutritional risk.
• Monitor patient progress and adjust nutrition plans as required.
• Work with doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals as part of the multidisciplinary team.
• Provide patient and family education.
• Provide dietary counselling for outpatients.
• Assist with menu planning and therapeutic diets where required.
• Liaise with food services regarding therapeutic and special diets.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation.
• Participate in nutrition-related audits and quality improvement activities.
• Support nutrition education and health promotion initiatives.
• Maintain professional knowledge and comply with relevant professional standards.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree or recognised qualification in Dietetics/Nutrition.
• Current professional registration/licensing where applicable.
• Hospital/clinical dietetics experience preferred.
