Pediatric Nurse

Position Title: Pediatric Nurse
Department: Pediatrics
Reports To: Nurse Unit Manager / Pediatric Clinical Lead

Position Purpose

To provide safe, age-appropriate and family-centred nursing care to infants, children and adolescents.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct age-appropriate nursing assessments.
• Monitor vital signs and clinical condition.
• Administer medications using appropriate weight-based dosing procedures.
• Provide prescribed treatments and nursing interventions.
• Monitor children for deterioration and escalate concerns promptly.
• Assist doctors with examinations and procedures.
• Provide care for children with acute and chronic illnesses.
• Support pain assessment and management.
• Provide nutritional and hydration support.
• Maintain accurate clinical records.
• Provide education to parents and caregivers.
• Promote child safety and safeguarding requirements.
• Support immunisation and preventive healthcare initiatives where applicable.
• Use appropriate communication techniques for children of different ages.
• Maintain infection prevention and control standards.
• Participate in clinical audits and quality improvement activities.

Qualifications & Experience

• Registered Nurse with current professional registration/licence.
• Pediatric nursing experience preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support certification.
