Professional Overview

Dr. Layana Menke is a Nauruan physician with training in general practice and public health. She graduated with a Doctor of Medicine from the Latin American School of Medicine in Cuba and completed her internship through the Kiribati Internship Training Programme at Tungaru Central Hospital.
Her career reflects a commitment to improving community health through clinical practice and capacity building. She has undertaken a series of accredited courses including critical care, emergency life support, palliative care, pain management and paediatric life support workshops conducted by international medical partners in Nauru and Kiribati. Dr. Menke is also an active community leader, serving as President of the Nauru National Youth Council in 2024.
