Professional Overview

Dr. Surendra Prabhawa is a senior general medical practitioner with more than a decade of clinical experience across Southeast Asia and the Middle East. He has worked extensively in hospital, corporate, and international healthcare environments, including serving as a hospitalist at Burjeel Hospital in Abu Dhabi, where he managed complex cases in gastroenterology, oncology, endocrinology, and infectious diseases.
His career also includes roles with American Medical Centre Dubai, First Response Health Care, and International SOS Indonesia, as well as leadership as Head of Department at BIA-Posco International. He has managed perioperative care for surgical patients, led emergency responses to cardiac and respiratory arrests, and overseen treatment for chronic and critical conditions such as diabetes, cardiac disease, and cancer. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Prabhawa has mentored junior doctors, conducted research in Sweden at Uppsala University and Karolinska Institutet, and contributed to peer-reviewed publications on oncology and neuroendocrine tumours.
Dr. Prabhawa holds a Doctor of Medicine from Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia, a Master of Medicine from Uppsala University, Sweden, and a Bachelor of Medicine from Gadjah Mada University. He is an active member of the Emirates Medical Association, the European Society for Medical Oncology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the Indonesian Medical Association.
